God created man so pure
But he kept a test to make it sure
Could the test man endure?
But towards fall didst Satan lure.
Thus sin started as a small crevice
But soon a pit of men it enticed
The depths of men it diagnosed
And distance between God and men began to rise.
From His throne, His footstool God saw
Mankind’s augmenting sinful flaws
Angered He made their condition raw
Whole earth was drowned – except Noah.
Through his sons more men were born
But sin still had its poking horns
It left men trapped and forlorn
Again away from God men were gone.
Then from heaven God looked down
Men’s sinful ways made Him frown
The ruddy sin began to brown
So His Son had to part His heavenly gown.
In the line of Judah was born a King
But in His hands were no golden rings
Salvation to all He was to bring
But in ragged clothes he was swaddling.
Three men saw a star in east
And followed it to Bethlehem; there it ceased
Behold before their eyes lay a feast
The Saviour of the great and least.
Of the King’s birth, the wise men told Herod
But on hearing it the king went red
Furious he demanded the baby’s blood
But his parents with Him to Egypt fled.
They returned after king Herod’s death
And the plotters buried under earth
The boy spoke words of honey to those who didst heareth
For in His mouth He had His Father’s breath.
He grew in stature, wisdom and God’s grace
The teachers of law with His words He amazed
The will of God He embraced
Favour of men upon Him was placed.
The words of Scriptures He fulfilled,
Fear of God – in men’s heart He instilled,
Through stone hearts His words drilled,
On his commands storms and waves were stilled.
Deaf heard; and didst see they who were blind
Lame walked; and made calm those of unsound mind.
Bonds He freed and made Satan go behind
Reigned in the hearts of the faithful He didst find.
The scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees
Hated Jesus as their fame and honour began to cease.
And His commands people pleased
With ropes they bound the one who frees.
The governor found that Jesus was pure
But the Pharisees’ tyranny he couldn’t endure
His innocence by washing hands he made sure
Then said:” This Man’s blood is upon yours”.
The King was given a ruthless flog
And made to carry a heavy log
To Golgotha He trudged and slogged
His strength drained; He bogged.
He was hung on Calvary cross
Carrying the remission of all our flaws
Seven words; and then a pause
Shook all who didst pass.
Down three days to scorching hell
To Satan’s reign He gave death knell
Then rose again in heaven to dwell
And salvation to everyone spell.
